Meet our 2018 On The Move team

In 2018, there were a team of over 50 highly motivated, super dedicated contributors that trained hard for the MK Marathon and shook buckets day and night; all in the name of raising money for the Winter Night Shelter MK and Meningitis Now. Their aim was to complete the MK Marathon and raise £13,000 each for the two charities in the process. Here’s what they achieved.

Our Movers

Much like 2019, our 2018 campaign centred around a really big event – the Milton Keynes Marathon. We assembled a team of over 50 of our most dedicated members to take part in the event – choosing either the full marathon or half marathon.

The team were committed to the cause without question – going out on regular training runs together, using Facebook to cheer each other on, and helping each other out with fundraising ideas when the going got tough. From training in the snow, to running a marathon in the blistering heat, the team were relentless in their quest to raise money, and run a marathon, all for a great cause (or two).

Our Fundraisers

But that nots all. Because whilst the movers were training, there was another group of amazing people that were also fundraising, still in the name of On The Move. Although not running the marathon, they still wanted to do their bit for the two charities so they set about organising everything from bake sales and raffles through to DJ’ing at club nights, to raise as much money as possible. They even took a treadmill on tour, recruited some runners, and arranged to run marathons in busy shopping centres at the weekend – all whilst shaking buckets!

Their contribution meant that the On The Move campaign didn’t just achieve it’s 2018 target – we smashed it!

How did they do?

With huge thanks to the movers and shakers of the 2018 team, to the companies that supported them, and most of all to those that donated; the 2018 team raised:

Team Unity Park Station – £19,352.43

Team Meningitis Now – £26,176.99

Who took part?

Our 2018 team was truly awesome. We couldn’t have asked more of them, at every step of the way they more than delivered. We couldn’t be more proud.
